Okies... Some of the newly posted events will require you to sign up. To do so, you will need to add characters to your profile first.

Go to your account, and click the Alts tab at the top:
Type in your name, select your class, and your level. If you're attuned to whatever instances are listed, check those too, but its not necessary. Once you've entered the required fields (the ones with * beside them), click the "Add an alt". This will add the character to your account:
Now, go to the event you're interested in attending. Lets say it's Gruul. The view is broken into 3 areas (depending on the status of the run) - those who are scheduled to be in the raid, those who are queued to go, and a signup/cancellation form. Select the player you want, and click "Sign Up":
You'll notice that this puts you in the queue'd portion of the raid view, and that the signup box has changed to a cancel.
Cancelling your signup will cause you to lose your position, regardless of the current state. So if you're slated to go, cancelling will pull you right out, and if you re-queue, you'll be in the queue.
From there, the raid leader / officer will move whoever he/she feels should go on the run to the "Members in the raid" portion of the view.
